Why Not Try an Intergenerational Book Group

I was recently asked for some book suggestions for a book group comprised of high school sophmores and some older folks. This got me thinking about what fun it might be to invite your children or some young people to join your book group once in a while.

For Ideas
Here are the suggestions given by Maine librarians for Maine related books for the above mentioned intergenerational group.

1. Contemporary Maine Fiction: An Anthology of Short Stories ed. Wesley McNair
2. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
3. Winterdance by Gary Paulsen
4. Twice Toward Justice by Phillip Noose and Claudette Colvin
5. Here If You Need Me by Kate Braestrup (2 suggested)
6. Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy by Gary Schmidt (2 suggested)
7. Cordelia Underwood or the Marvelous Beginnings of the Moosepath League by Van Reid (2 suggested)
8. After Gandhi by Anne Sibley O'Brien
9. The Rowan Tree by Elizabeth Pollack
10. Shoutin' Into the Fog; Growing Up on Maine's Ragged Edge by Thomas Hanna
11. Hungry Ocean or The Lobster Chronicles; Life On a Very Small Island by Linda Greenlaw (2 suggested)
12. Saturday Night at Moody's Diner and Other Stories by Tim Sample
(also Louise Dickinson Rich or Sanford Phippen)
13. Tree By Leaf by Cynthia Voigt
14. One Man's Meat by E.B. White
15. The Maine Woods by Henry David Thoreau
